We bought this DVD for my not-quite 2-year-old son, Caleb, who is enamoured with tractors. He LOVES it! He has watched it almost daily since we got it a few months ago, and it often holds him mesmerized for the whole 40 minutes (a marvel for a toddler) . You don’t have to be a toddler to delight in it, though…my husband and I found it quite inspiring (for the first dozen or so times we saw it, anyway), and Caleb’s grandpa was also impressed.

The video is very well done, with enormous footage of a wide variety of unique and vintage John Deere tractors and implements. Learn about a variety of historic “Johnny Popper” 2-cylinder tractors (probably our approved fraction of the video) . Also peek the newest 4-wheel drive Gargantuan tractors. John Deere construction equipment is also shown, with a detailed segment on excavators (a.k.a. “diggers”) . Also includes the “Buck” (John Deere ATV) and “Gator” (basically a golf cart for the farm) . Interspersed throughout the video are catchy tunes with which you will come by yourself singing along, as well as funny clips that bustle in reverse…peer a combine spit the harvest attend out, a tractor “un-plow” a field, and more.

This video is distinct to please your wheel-loving youngster, and you may be pleasantly surprised to score yourself learning more about tractors than you had bargained for…and having fun while you’re at it! I’d give this video more than 5 stars if I could…it truly is that well-behaved.

My 14 month ancient puny boy LOVES this video. He runs and gets his John Deere toys when watching. One of his first words was ‘tactor’, and he can status one from the car. The video has expansive songs and isn’t at all annoying to adults. I highly recommend it

VCI Entertainment presents “MARTIN LUTHER” (8 May 1953) (103 mins/B&W) (Fully Restored/Dolby Digitally Remastered) — Narrator John Wiggin begins the film with a scholarly overview of the status and time of the life of Martin Luther. He points out that power is divided between the Emperor and the church. To residence the stage for the presentation of Luther’s conflict with the church of his day he states, “the church had largely forgotten the mercies of God; and, instead, it emphasized God’s implacable judgments.”

Our record and place, the time frame of the film is 1507-1530 from the time Luther entered the Augustinian monastery in Erfurt to the presentation of the Augsburg Confession. It recounts Martin Luther’s struggle to bag God’s mercy, his discovery of the gospel in Romans 1:17, his posting of his Ninety-five theses, and the controversy that followed which led to his separation from the church of Rome. It shows Luther’s resistance to the forces of radicalism, and his work to assign and possess the evangelical movement of his day. The dramatic highlight is his “Here I Stand” speech before the 1521 Diet of Worms.

However the film is glorious faithful memoir of his conflict with the organized Church, and how it led to the creation of Protestantism (and, in particular, Lutheranism) . It gave Niall MacGinnis the best straight dramatic lead role in his career —- MacGinnis always was a pleasant supporting actor in cramped parts, so it is worth noting that when he was given an notable fraction like Luther he gave it his all.

Special footnote, the performances in the film are favorable, as are the scenery and costumes, shown in stark shaded and white photography. The producers spared no expense to show the wide range of political and religious figures with whom Luther interacted. The dialogs are poignant and always clearly understandable — A must glance film that gives you notion provoking questions.

In 1980, director Jamie Uys (1921-1996) wrote, produced, directed and even acted in a landmark film entitled “The Gods Must Be Crazy” which is about a exiguous Bushman named Xixo (N!xau, 1944-2003) from the Kalahari Desert who has ever ventured far from home nor has any plan of technology. When a coke bottle falls from a plane that is flying overhead and nearly hits Xixo, he believes that it is a gift from the gods, takes it and uses it as a tool for many everyday tasks. Other members of Xixo’s tribe also expend the bottle, but they eventually inaugurate to fight over it. Deciding that the bottle is an improper thing, Xixo decides that he must return it to the gods and begins a lengthy ride to secure the edge of the world from which to throw the depraved bottle away. Also being totally uneducated about other people’s (and nation’s) customs and laws, Xixo hunts an animal for food in a park. Park rangers reach along, are unable to communicate with Xixo and arrest him for poaching. Unfortunately for Xixo, he has absolutely no opinion that he has done anything noxious, but when he is brought before a local court, a man is there who speaks Xixo’s language. The court awards custody of Xixo to the man, a mechanic named Mpudi (Michael Thys), who is friend and an assistant of sorts to a bumbling wildlife biologist, Andrew Steyn (Marius Weyers) . Andrew is smitten with his village’s current school-teacher, Kate Thompson (Sandra Prinsloo) . The village also has a church whose reverend is played by Jamie Uys. While Xixo is trying to cope with technology, while Andrew is trying to woo Kate and while Mpudi is trying to maintain their demonic land rover working, a terrorist named Sam Boga (Louw Verwey) is also on the loose.

Jamie Uys’ dwelling, dialog and direction was completely supurb in “The Gods Must Be Crazy”. Jamie Uys won the Most Common Film Award from the Montréal World Film Festival in 1983, and it was nominated as Best Foreign Film by the César Awards in France in 1984. Sadly, “The Gods Must Be Crazy” received no attention from the Academy Awards. The characters in the film are both endearing and challenging, especially Xixo whose innocence in the face of fresh civilization was superbly acted by N!xau. I was very black when I heard of N!xau passing away earlier this year. He will always be remembered as the small Bushman. Overall, I rate “The Gods Must Be Crazy” with a resounding 5 out of 5 stars and highly recommend it to everyone. I applaud Jamie Uys, N!xau and the other actors in the film for creating such a masterpiece on a shoe-string budget and can’t wait to rep a copy of the film on DVD!

This situation contains two broad comedies position in the ravishing deserts of Botswana, Africa.

The first “The Gods Must be Crazy” was released in 1980. I was surprised fair how grand it shows that in hair and clothing styles, but I hardly noticed after the first few minutes. It actually starts grand like a documentary, telling about life in a bushman tribe in the Kalahari. One day, they look a Coke bottle. Thinking it a gift from the gods, they originate to consume it for all kinds of tasks, only to glean it has introduced strife to their community. Xixo sets out to net the waste of the world and return it to the gods. Meanwhile, a despotic revolutionary is on the hasten after a failed coop attempt. And a biologist is trying to pick up over his horror of women to transport the unusual school teacher and to the village.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Gods Must Be Crazy Series! Click Here

This movie starts out a limited insensible, setting up the bushman culture and customs, so that when the movie gets going, we’ll catch the laughter. Most of the comedy is at the expense of civilized humans, but some sizable points are made about out reliance on our technology. Some of the physical gags engrossing the barely running jeep and the nervous biologist are priceless, and the plotting of these three stories is shimmering.

“The Gods Must be Crazy II” (1989) once again finds Xixo traveling into the world of the unusual civilized man when his kids accidentally stow away in an ivory poacher’s truck. Meanwhile, a corporate lawyer and biologist have been stranded in the desert when their plane is blown off course during a freak storm. And two opposing soldiers are trying to select each other.

This yarn starts and moves remarkable faster. I hadn’t seen it as recently as the first one, and I’d forgotten unbiased how silly this one was. I contemplate it might actually be a microscopic funnier. This time, there’s more interaction with the wild life of the situation for some astronomical gags. Xixo is the only returning character, but the heroes are detached likable.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Gods Must Be Crazy Series! Click Here

My only accurate complaint is philosophical. These movies elevate the bushman to an almost perfect spot with an ideal life. Ironically enough, one of the documentaries does exhibit that their lives have really been glamorized for the film and their existence is distinguished harder. Aloof, it’s always safe to laugh at oneself, and these movies certainly obtain you wonder fair how civilized we really are.

The DVD spot isn’t quite up to normal standards for the format, but level-headed acceptable. Both films are presented in anamorphic widescreen, but the narrate is marred by lots of dust and grain. It’s certainly composed watchable, but it’s not the crystal determined pictures I’ve been contemptible with on DVD. The first movie is presented in mono, and I had a diminutive concern hearing it. Section of the dilemma was what seemed like a very dreadful dubbing, probably partially because of the age and coarse budget of the recent. The sequel sounded worthy better in stereo, but neither movie will expose off your sound system. Collected, they catch the job done, and I deem that less is more with these films. Each disc has one documentary on it. The first is a feature on the loyal life of star N!xau who played Xixo. As I mentioned earlier, it paints quite a incompatibility to the life presented for these films. The second is a short tribute to creator/director Jamie Ulys which give a diminutive late the scenes watch at these movies.

While these DVD’s won’t be setting any unique standards, they are certainly adequate. And the films contained on them are two classic vulgar budget comedies from the 80’s. If you’re willing to laugh at yourself, prefer these up. Any fan of the movies will enjoy them, especially for the ticket.

It was 1943 and the United States was at war. Humphrey Bogart had unprejudiced finished “Casablanca” (considered the #2nd greatest Movie of the last 100 years by the American Film Institute (AFI) 1998) with Ingrid Bergman at Warner Brothers.

As the war trouble continued Hollywood began to exercise the power of their stars with patriotic themes, against all odds stories to give Americans and the world hope for victory.

Warner Brothers having the greatest stable of stars lent the services of Humphrey Bogart to Columbia Pictures for the making of the Classic Desert War tale “Sahara”.

This movie had a grand ensemble cast which included a very young Llyod Bridges, Bruce Bennett, J. Carrol Naish and Dan Duryea. Filmed in the Mojave Desert arrive the big Salton Sea in Southern California. The filmed was endorsed by the War Department and the extras were supplied by the United States Army (playing the Germans, Americans and Allies) .

“SAHARA” became Columbia Pictures top grossing film of 1943 at a whopping $2.3 million and a very effective propaganda war vehicle.

Summary: Sgt Joe Gunn (Bogart) a WWII tank Commander and his crew (Bennett & Duryea) are surrounded by Germans in the Sahara desert. Their only speed is south into the desert with only their tank “Lullabelle”. The urge is against time, finding gas, water & their allies before the Germans catch them.

This DVD quality is outstanding!! (remasterd video & audio.) FullScreen (before Widescreen) and Black/White presentation. Extras include a portray montage of unusual lobby poster art, trailers from other WWII movies and star film chronoligies.

This is a “WWII Sleeper Classic Bogart Film”. Bogart is a master craftsman, an American Icon Hero. You become very attached to this cast of desert marooned characters in a huge sage about unsummountable odds and the pure devoted attitude to succeed!! Be Pleased.

If anyone wants to sight how effective a WWII propaganda movie can be, I’d recommend Sahara. It’s the legend of a little group of Allied soldiers, led by Sergeant Joe Gunn (Humphrey Bogart), lost in the Libyan desert, who are sure to defend a little outpost against a battalion of Germans. The outpost has a well, but the well is almost dry. It produces only drops of water. Joe and his comrades will utilize the promise of water to delay the Germans, fighting them off in an almost hopeless battle, to give the Allies after the tumble of Tobruk a chance to regroup. Please stamp that elements of the space are discussed.

Sahara hits its marks to earn all of us civilians serve home a reason to be proud of our fighting men, to be resolute in the fight against the Germans, and to dedicate ourselves to do what we must to come by. Let’s spy. We’ve got Humphrey Bogart leading us. His Joe Gunn is sympathetic, tough and shimmering, a natural leader, and at heart Gunn is unprejudiced an average guy. The men he winds up leading are his tank crew and a collection of men from other countries he encounters in the desert. They approach from Brooklyn, of course, and from Texas, from London, South Africa, Dublin, France, the Sudan. We have the shadowy Sudanese portrayed as a resourceful and dauntless man, not as comedy relief, who not only develops a friendship with the Texan but who twice saves the day for his comrades. We have an Italian prisoner who represents an Italy which is oppressed by the Germans, and a Nazi prisoner who is arrogant and vicious. We have a battle in which ingenuity and bravery manage to absorb off brutal frontal attacks. We have genuine men dying for a cause which is larger than they are. And we have two tranquil but effective speeches which build why we fight and why the fight is worth the cost.

Sergeant Gunn calls everyone together in the blazing sun unprejudiced outside the mud-brick outpost to elaborate what he wants to do against the oncoming battalion of Germans. He intends that they will fight to fill off and delay the enemy. He has fewer than ten men. The Germans have several hundred. “I ogle at it this intention,” he tells the group. “Because it is a 100-to-one shot, because it is so grand more than line-of-duty, because there’s so itsy-bitsy chance of us coming out of it, I felt I ought to achieve it up to you. You’ve all got families at home, wives, mothers, sweethearts. I ain’t got none, so it doesn’t matter about me. I know how you feel about ‘em…maybe havin’ none I know even better. What you choose, you’d better settle lickety-split.” One British soldier speaks up, “Well, nobody minds giving his life, but this is throwing it away. Why? ” “Why? ” Joe answers, “Why did your people go about their business when the Germans were throwing everything in the book at ‘em? Why did your minute boats select the men off the beach at Dunkirk? Why did the Russians do a stand at Moscow? Why did the Chinese travel whole cities thousands of miles inland when the Japs attacked ‘em? Why Bataan? Why Corregidor? Maybe they were all nuts but there’s one thing they did do. They delayed the enemy and kept on delayin’ ‘em until we got strong enough to hit ‘em harder than they were hittin’ us. I ain’t no general, but it seems to me that’s one device to score.”

Buy,Download, Or Stream Sahara! Click Here

Joe and the others launch digging in. They only have a few hours before the Germans, with no water of their have, approach. Joe bluffs the German commander. “Water for guns!” He knows they won’t give in, and he knows he has almost no water himself. The Germans attack and sustain attacking. One by one, Joe’s men die. The lone British officer, a medical man who has backed Joe up, is with Joe in a shallow trench. “We’ve got to do it,” Joe tells Doc. He sounds tired. “It looks like somebody’s gotta work a miracle.” Doc looks at him. “It seems to me,” he tells Joe, “the four of us holding off several hundred of them is nothing short of a miracle. You know why we’re able to do it? Because we’re stronger than they are.” Joe looks at him. “What do you mean, stronger? ” he asks. “Oh, I don’t mean in numbers,” Doc says, “I mean in something else. You sight, those men out there have never known…well, the dignity of freedom.” “Dignity? That’s a humorous diagram to effect it,” Joe says, “but maybe you got something there.” “We’ve all got something,” Doc says quietly.

Soon, we’re down to two men. Then that miracle happens. Peek the movie and net out. Yes, the speeches are sure, but they work in the context of the movie. The first third is Joe, his tank and his crew, trying to salvage their method abet to their lines and slowly gathering up the others. They are attacked by a German fighter and have to retain enthralling through a scouring sandstorm. The middle of the film is spent watching their struggle to salvage the few drops of water coming from the well. More importantly, now we secure to know most of the men as individuals. We also gain to know unprejudiced how hazardous the Nazi prisoner is. And the last third is a rouser…the preparation for what appears to be a hopeless battle, the dedication of the men as they fight and die, and then the final victory.

For a film that isn’t especially well known, this is, in my notion, one of Bogart’s best roles. There’s no counterfeit heroics about Joe Gunn. He’s honest a gritty sergeant who rises to the occasion. With the exception of J. Carrol Naish, who gives one of his over-played little-man Italian performances, the actors all do handsome jobs. I particularly liked Dan Duryea, Rex Ingram and Louis Mercier. One other concept. If you’re ever in a battle, never point to your pals a photo of your sweetheart or your child. You’ll soon be monotonous if you do.

The DVD transfer is unprejudiced lovely. There are no well-known extras.

This movie really surprised me. In the vein of “Murderball,” this documentary is told like a yarn. [*]Simpsons Vast Tales: 4.5/5

This episode features 3 great tales - Paul Bunyan, Connie Appleseed, and Tom and Huck. While I didn’t particularly care for Paul Bunyan, Tom and Huck was okay, and Connie Appleseed was very droll.

The Simpsons: The Complete Twelfth Season is one HELL of a season - completely underrated - and, in my notion, better than seasons 11 and 10, and even 9 and 8. The bonus features are alright, as usual. 24 minutes of deleted scenes on the fourth disc, best Comical Book Guy moments from up until 2001, Butterfinger commercials and a Red Rooster one from 2000/2001, and a Simpsons Fanfest from 200…1 I believe? And, as always, there is also commentary on every episode.

As far as the boxing is concerned, Season 12 is a bit better than eleven. The discs are easier to net out of the box, and the material sleeve that the discs go in is a minute more scratch resistant. The Silly Book Guy head you watch on the box, as with season eleven, can be taken off. There is only bit of that peely-glue stuff to hold off.

Overall, as I said, this is a ample season, and is probably my accepted season since season 7, or maybe 8… I’m probably one of VERY few to say this, but I objective really thoroughly enjoyed most of this season. It started unimaginative, but it really got going, and the Simpsons Titanic Tales and Trilogy of Error episodes were a vast limited change. I really recommend this season.

4.5/5

Pros: Several awesome episodes, I counted 11 “epicsodes” out of 21 episodes… that is a really suitable ratio. Also some elegant chilly bonus features.

Cons: The box, while slightly improved, is aloof fine subpar. The first disc for the most share doesn’t have very generous episodes… that’s really about it.

And now we wait for season 13…

I know I am not alone when it comes to the design season 11 and probably season 12 will be packaged. In those almost immpossible sleeves the discs are crammed into. Once out of that tight fitting slot, impartial consume some of those two sided sleeves or envelopes you rep at office depot. They fit assist in between the accordian type booklet fair graceful. It’s a fleet coarse cost solution to the quandary. Unprejudiced understanding i’d portion that with everybody.

So grand of the staff had to consume their time motivating learners when class-privileged students grasp their specialness as a given. So great time is addressed on behavioral problems that it sucks away time from learning. These children have to grow up quickly: they direct of drugs and racism firsthand at a time when privileged children are drawing pictures of dragons and begging for more toys than they need.

I now understand why considerable applicants in my colossal city must recall rigorous examinations before they are hired. The vital valiantly wore so many hats: parent figure, disciplinarian, group leader, economizer, etc. I must admit that I was haunted to look a class-privileged, Caucasian I woman care so mighty about dreadful, unlit kids. Seeing her yowl approach the slay truly affected me. Collected, she spoke about “contrast” and I wish that she would have stopped dancing around the instruct of racism. Further, there may have been too considerable focus upon her and not enough focus on the teachers, some of whom seemed very titillating.

This book reminded me of the academic text “Timorous Boys, Promising Girls.” Here, all the boys are shown as having problems, while one girl is shown as being parentless, but unruffled gifted. Does this documentary intend to suggest that no girls are disobedient and no boys are talented? Furthermore, many males are shown and only this one female student is shown. This gender imbalance is troubling given that the elementary school is almost certainly equally gendered.

The student population here was far more monoracial than the faculty. If the faculty is half white and half gloomy (purposely written in that order), then I don’t understand why teachers and the well-known didn’t talk about having to work to demonstrate a united front or educate as a biracial staff.

There’s a lot of off-key children’s singing here; parents like that type of stuff, but it got the fastforward button from me. I consider the all-male class with its dark male teacher worked out well, but something tells me it may violated the 14th and 15th Amendments of the United States Constitution.

1/25/06 I found the documentary very poignant..the fact that 13 years ago(documentary is 1993) a group of 4-10 year conventional African American children were demanding “pampering” from their principle..: they were yell to over plug their classroom teachers to tattle when they “spit, kicked or punched each other” & that they were a melting pot of all types of abilities as well as problems. ..The Stanton Elementary School was fortunate to have parents who came to the school to inquire their children “not play the fake stereotype of “the humdrum African American”.When you contemplate the documentary, it becomes bewildering as to why these kids’ neighborhoods did not evolve for the better over the years.Perhaps the tranquilizers they were being given as an excuse when they “hyped”, transits to “street drugs” when they interested themselves in the teen years “with the streets”.

I didn’t peer “The Wild Angels” until Plunge, 2004; it was my first exposure to the biker film genre that ran for less than a decade in the tedious 60s to early 70s. (I had, of course, seen Peter Fonda’s “Easy Rider” [1969], but that was more of a drug culture flick than a biker film) .

Roger Corman’s “The Wild Angels” was released in 1966 and kicked off this biker film craze, which makes it the perfect introduction to the genre, not to mention it’s the best of the lot I’ve seen, by far. It only runs 88 minutes.

THE PLOT: Elegant Blues (Fonda) and The Loser (Bruce Dern) are members of The Angel’s bike gang (obviously modeled after the Hell’s Angels) . The first half hour shows them and their “venerable ladies” (Nancy Sinatra & Diane Ladd) living the wild, free & crazy lifestyle of a biker gang in Southern California. Due to the astounding folly of the gang members, The Loser perishes. The final hour involves his death and subsequent funeral & burial in some diminutive town in the mountains. The gang members can’t handle their difficulty and perceive solace through excessive revelry, drugs & alcohol, criminal acts and glum withdrawal.

The first half hour is quite titillating and precisely what you’d question from a 60’s biker flick. The Southern California locations and cinematography are extraordinary and the anecdote is compelling. The film was shot in Mecca, Idyllwild and Palm Desert. While there’s some qualified biker action in this initial segment, the final 55 minutes takes a plain, sunless, solemn and completely evil turn that will likely turn some viewers off if they’re not ready for it. This final hour shows that “The Wild Angels” is not an action film at all, so don’t examine a lot of action-oriented excitement if you’re catching it for the first time. It’s a biker drama that touches on some heavy issues — friendship, death and trouble, as well as alcohol, drug and sexual abuse.

I’m a enormous Marlon Brando fan so I’ve seen “The Wild One” from 1954, the recent biker flick (for the 50s, that is), but the worst thing Brando and his gang do is brawl, drink and chew gum. This may be “wild” but certainly not mean-spirited or criminal.

“The Wild Angels” was filmed only 12 years later, so how grand more “wild” could Fonda’s gang be? Well, if you’re seeing it for the first time, you’re in for a surprise because The Angel’s are Blueprint beyond merely wild & free (as they’re depicted in the first 30 minutes), they’re totally bad imbeciles! (Although Fonda himself, I should point out, is portrayed merely as the epitome of ‘cool’) .

Want proof? The Angels atomize into the hospital to “free” The Loser and he ends up dying for lack of pleasurable medical care for his considerable injuries (sustained while trying to glide the police) . They effect distinct to derive him high before he dies though. While breaking into the hospital one Angel savagely attempts to rape a nurse. And guess what kind of thanks The Angels give to the minister who safe performs The Loser’s funeral? They beat him up and trash his sanctuary (!) . Guess what kind of comfort two Angel’s offer The Loser’s grieving girlfriend? They cruelly rape her (!) . To top it off they outrageously abuse The Loser’s corpse at the funeral party (!!) .

As you can gape, The Angel’s aren’t impartial anti-heroes in this film, they’re THE SCUM OF THE EARTH. Not only that, but they’re a bunch of LOSERS who, as Fonda points out, honest “want to secure loaded” (in his almost droll rant) . Hey, everyone needs to let their hair down and celebrate now and then (God even seems to direct it in the Bible — Deuteronomy 14:26), but if the sole purpose of your life is to unbiased “find loaded” you’re not gonna sight very wonderful when you hit 35 (The Angels in the film are all in their 20s), and you’re certainly not going to have any energy, drive or charisma. Yeah, the “party animal” lifestyle gets old-fashioned steady like a flash, and then ya gotta grow up (everybody grows older but not everyone grows up) .

Despite what some say, Nancy Sinatra does a pleasing job as Fonda’s girlfriend; she would later renounce the film, however, due to it’s over-the-top immorality.

In my teens I went through a “party animal” phase and actually partied with loyal bikers on quite a few occasions (albeit The Outlaws, not the Hell’s Angels) . These were some abominable dudes, to be obvious, but they were generally sterling and merry, sort of like modern-day Vikings; I never experienced anything that remotely resembles The Angel’s contaminated conduct in this flick. Hence, the coarse immorality described above is an exaggeration. Luminous that controvery sells, Corman portrayed The Angel’s in this manner simply for the sake of shock value. Most viewers, I’m certain, realize this. Quiet, there’s at least SOME truth to the nature of such outlaw and outcast American biker gangs as depicted here.

FINAL ANALYSIS: The first time I saw “The Wild Angels” I was completely taken aback by the irascible immorality of The Angels; I simply wasn’t prepared to view this in a 1966 describe. I also felt the film really bogged down with The Loser’s death, funeral and burial (the last 55 minutes) .

I now consent to the film’s uniqueness and brilliance. This is a cult flick in the truest sense. Yes, some of The Angel’s behavior is incredibly reprehensible and, yes, the preacher in the anecdote was apt when he stated, “Woe to those who say outrageous is satisfactory and favorable is obnoxious.” Serene, the portray successfully captures the utterly outcast and outlaw nature of The Angel’s bike gang. They’re like a microscopic, totally lost tribe living on the periphery of American society. In a plot, one can’t benefit but pity the awful bastages.

Also, I now respond the genius of the final 55 minutes of the film, which involve The Loser’s death, funeral and burial. If you’re psyched up to discover an action film you’re going to be disappointed because “The Wild Angels” boldly sneers at such film conventions. The record is essentially about death and the nature of bereavement. It powerfully shows how the various gang members deal with their grief: They generally narrate it and attempt to lose themselves in drinking, drugs, revelry and criminal & perverse conduct. The leader (Fonda) can’t shake his mournful spirit of loss; he’s not even positive if he loves his “ragged lady” anymore. When everyone else scatters because “the heat” arrives, he stays — risking impending rob — to bury his fallen comrade.

The unique title of “The Wild Angels” was noteworthy better and more fitting: “All the Fallen Angels.”

In conclusion, despite being a B-grade flick, “The Wild Angels” is horrid, courageous, new and well salubrious of its famed reputation. In fact, it was banned in Denmark, one of the world’s most ‘liberated’ countries, when it was released. What thrusts it into the realm of greatness is its heavy commentary on the human condition in a world gone inflamed, which may be completely missed by some viewers who won’t likely leer beyond the repugnant aspects.

If you’re watching it for the first time you’d better brace yourself.

[I haven’t seen the misnamed “Hell’s Belles” yet, so check out the other reviews for that film. If nothing else, it’s a nice bonus].

The film-quality of both movies is suitable. The not-so-good news is that they are on the monotonous side. The second movie is mis-named. The title “Hells Belles” led me to occupy the movie would be about two or more women and motorcycles. There are women in the movie, but only one has a portion, and it is a secondary one. The movie is about one man fighting another man and his gang over a stolen motorcycle. The movie made me contemplate Sylvester Stallone got the notion for Rambo after watching it.

Explorers is a must for all apt science fiction film collectors. The site elegantly captures the dreams of a typical young sci-fi fan / region enthusiast. Hawke, then about 12, receives schematics from outer residence in his dreams. His buddy Phoenix builds a circuit from the dream-diagram and hooks it to his computer, generating a miraculous force field expedient of driving a station ship - which they fabricate, with a third pal from school (Presson), from junkyard parts!

Joe Dante’s 1985 state adventure pays homage to classic sci-fi in a number of allusions: the videos Ethan Hawke watches in bed (The War of The Worlds and This Island Earth), the feeble sf paperbacks and Classics Illustrated comics in River Phoenix’s basement, the mouse named Heinlein (after the gigantic American science fiction writer Robert A. Heinlein), and the usual supporting roles of Dick Miller and Robert Picardo (The Burbs, Matinee, etc.) . Watching this movies always puts me in the mood to reread the Heinlein juvenile novels (Have Residence Suit, Will Fade, Rocket Ship Galileo, etc.) .

If anyone says they’re disappointed in the ending, that’s only because the first 90 minutes of the film are so obliging, it’s hard for any ending to live up to the oustanding buildup, including exploring the interior of a stout alien spacecraft. Pick it for what it is, and if you’re into residence ships or sci-fi, you’ll like it.

Fans of movies like “Galaxy Quest” will probably come by this dated but unexcited interesting. If you enjoyed “Goonies” you should like this movie. Three teenage boys make a spaceship from plans that are sent to them by aliens. The fact they form it from a carnerval gallop and other miscellaneous items only shows the imagination. A fun adventure for kids of all ages. The young aliens that sent the plans to the teenagers have modelled their behavior based on our TV shows. The alien comedy is like Robin Williams did in Aladdin, off the wall imitations of celebrities. I enjoyed it when I first saw it as someone in my twenties and I calm deem it is fun to sight.

This film has some of most breathtaking scenery ever filmed. Shot high up in a remote region of the Himalayas that has seen very few foreigners, it focuses on the Tibetan people who live in an location of the mountains called Dolpo. These people are referred to as Dolpopas. The treasure that the director, Eric Valli, has for this situation of the world is palpable with the loving care and attention to detail that is lavished on this production. Shot at heights of up to 17,400 feet, this film is a ample achievement both cinematically and historically, as it locks in time a petite known culture and method of life.

The sage, which is based upon staunch life events, details a generational struggle between the young and the former. The storyline is simple. This isolated village is dependent upon trading its salt for grain, so that the village may survive. To do so, a caravan of yaks must compose an arduous stir through the Himalayan Mountains to Nepal to execute such a trade. When one such caravan returns to the village, the caravan chief, is stupid and his body has been brought succor to the village by his best friend, Karma. The slow chief’s father and tribal council memeber, Tinle, crazed with danger, suspects Karma of having brought about his son’s death in an attempt to steal his dwelling as chief of the caravan. His tedious son has left leisurely a exquisite wife, Pema, whom Karma covets, and a young son, whom Tinle wants designated as chief, despite his youth.

This sets into play a power struggle between Tinle and Karma, both of whom are headstrong and willful. After the old sky burial for the tiresome caravan chief, this clash of wills results in two separate caravans setting out on the salt trading sprint. One is led by Karma who, accompanied by the village youth, defiantly leads his caravan out of the village before the date designated by the village lamas. The other is led by Tinle, who has persuaded his other son, Norbou, a Buddhist monk, to succor him. Accompanied by Norbou the elders of his village, as well as by his tiring, son’s widow and young son, Tinle follows tradition and leaves on the date that the lamas have designated as being most propitious for the difficult slide. The film details each of the respective journeys, as well as the continuing battle of wills between the two leaders. The risks that Tinle takes on the trek in order to to salvage up with Karma is captured in all its starkly attractive, cinematic majesty and will leave viewers sitting on the edge of their seats.

Set against a breathtaking backdrop of Himalayan beauty, this is a must stare film. The performances by those in lead roles are compelling. Thilen Lhondup, a loyal life stale yak man who had fled Tibet during its invasion by China, is charismatic and distinguished as Tinle. Gurgon Kyap imbues the role of the headstrong Karma with a youthful vigor and machismo. Lhakpa Tsamchoe, an exotic beauty who hails from Southern India by draw of Tibetan parents, is wonderfully aloof in the role of Pema. Karma Wangel is absolutely adorable as Tinle’s grandson and will prefer the viewers’ hearts.

Anthropologically rich and visually resplendent, it took the director nine months to film this movie. The daunting logistics, the unpredictable weather, and the expend of mostly non actors contributed to this being a time bewitching project. In order to have as mighty authenticity as possible, this film was shot entirely on position and the villagers even wore their possess clothing in the film. The director’s care and misfortune paid off, however, as this is one of the most stunningly gorgeous films ever made. The musical acquire by Bruno Coulais is haunting, capturing the soaring majesty of the dwelling, as well as some of its mystique. It also offers what I have to be Tibetan throat singing, a somewhat esoteric gain of singing/chanting not often heard in the western world.

This film, which was first released under the title “Caravan”, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 2000. I maintain that it lost to Pedro Almodovar’s film, “About My Mother”, which is also an honorable movie. Having seen both films, however, there is no doubt in my mind that Valli’s film should have been the one to paddle away with the Academy Award.

The DVD is first rate, providing crystal definite visuals and audio. It is a value laden DVD, loaded with a number of tantalizing features. It offers a terrific director’s commentary, as well as a delectable and informative featurette by Debra Kellner on the making of the film. There is also another absorbing featurette, entitled “Electronic Press Kit”, that contains some fascinating film clips and montages as to how clear things were done on the film, given the daunting logistics. This is a must have DVD for those who are keen in other cultures, the Himalayas, and, quite simply, a colossal film. Bravo!

This fantastic film gets my nod when it has been nominated for academic award for the best foreign film 2000. I have watched this movie today and really indignant to write a review. It’s an inspirational, coming-of-age, sage about Chief’s pursuit to glimpse after the people in his village Dolpa and the obstacles in his path. I have been to Dolpa, infact I have seen these people around having same kind of life. The people in the movie are accurate and their customs are steady too. The epic has been greatly supported by mind blowing scenic idea of Nepal and its culture. The himalayas, villages, Foksandu lake are proper and it has become the heart of this movie. On top of that this movie also reflects the culture which is dying at this information age. Thanks for the director and photographer for creating such a nice movie.
